D.I.Y. Printing Information & Guide

To get the best results on your own prints, you must understand a bit about digital images. The JPG. files on this disk are high resolution and with proper attention to procedure, will produce beautiful prints. But there are some things to consider. Typically digital images are viewed on several different devices, including cell phones, tablets, home computers, and smart T.V’s. Each screen or monitor on these devices may be significantly different. Obviously color saturation, brightness, contrast and sharpness will all be effected.
In todays culture digital images are viewed more on electronic devices than printed media. For this reason your images are processed for electronic viewing. In most cases, a digital image will print slightly darker than how it appears on your monitor. Another factor to consider is the quality of your printer, the type of paper and the software of your printer. All of these will determine the outcome of your prints. You may have to print the image several times to get the pleasing result you are looking for. For best results I recommend you try only adjusting the “BRIGHTNESS” control in your software. Raise the brightness so the image appears to be about 10 to 15% brighter than the original on your screen. (Tip! Open a second window on you computer screen to view the original and compare it with the edited version in your printer software) Remember! Every image will be slightly different than the next. This can make the printing a frustrating and wasteful process. Truly a good reason to have a professional print your images.. Quality paper and ink can be expensive. In some cases, by the time you run a few test prints of an       8 x 10 portrait, you could have bought one professional print!
